Shuttle bus service has been announced on Sunday for travellers from Basingstoke, who desire to be present at the upcoming London Marathon. The shuttle bus service to the London Marathon from Basingstoke has been proclaimed by the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance. The Alliance has confirmed that it would be administering a fleet of special shuttle buses from Clapham Junction and Wimbledon to London Waterloo station. The shuttle bus transport service would commence at 7 am on Sunday, April 21.

The Alliance has counselled the passengers to check with the website for complete particulars of the shuttle bus service intended for Sunday. The Alliance has also informed that a normal train service would continue to run on Sunday on certain routes, including Portsmouth to Waterloo (through Fareham or Guildford), Basingstoke and Alton to Waterloo and Weymouth and Poole to Waterloo.

Unavoidable engineering work will, however, be undertaken this Sunday just outside Waterloo, as a consequence of which platforms 1-10 will be inoperative until almost 4 pm. A restricted service will operate to and from Waterloo before 4 pm. This news has been confirmed by Jake Kelly, Customer Service Director for South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance. Once the engineering work is over, the normal intended Sunday service will function with some trains being bigger than normally is the case.

Jake Kelly has voiced that the organisation acknowledges the inconvenience for the passengers, which will come with scheduling work of this kind on a significant day like the London Marathon. The Customer Service Director has voiced that the engineering work could not be postponed as there was a real risk of infrastructural failure. Had the engineering work been deferred until the following weekend, it would have badly impacted a sellout rugby semifinal at Twickenham.

Full particulars of the Basingstoke-London Marathon shuttle bus services are accessible at www.southwesttrains.co.uk. Passengers have been advised to question the National Rail Enquiries or South West Trains for the newest data before deciding to travel.
