Fernando Torres has denied the rumours about a swap deal with Atletico for Falcao

Chelsea FC transfer news brings in news about Fernando Torres negating rumours about an exchange deal with Atletico Madrid for Radamel Falcao. The Spanish striker has quashed the speculations about his return to Madrid as he stated that he was not interested in moving to his former club. Torres has been struggling this season as his goal scoring has diminished majorly.

The Blues owner, Roman Abramovich was earlier reported to offer El Nino to Liverpool FC with a condition of discarding the outstanding amount left in the deal, which is around £15 million. Torres has shown patches of brilliance during his stay at Stamford Bridge, but has struggled to be effective in his job, which is to score goals.

El Nino has 19 goals in 53 appearances, which is below par for a striker of his ability. Chelsea FC has been linked to Radamel Falcao for a long time and after Torres denying a swap deal, the Blues have to prepare a cash-only £40 million bid to land the prolific striker. Falcao has been in supreme touch as he has scored 22 goals in 26 appearances in the La Liga this season.

Discarding the rumours about the swap deal with Atletico Madrid, Torres said, “I have never hidden that I am very grateful that I did many things at Atletico, but the reality is that I’m at another club and I have three years left my contract. I have much to give back to Chelsea and plenty to prove to myself before returning back home. To go back to Atletico is not a reality for now.”

Fernando Torres scored twice in the Blues 3-1 victory over Rubin Kazan in the first leg of a quarterfinal match of Europa League. If Torres continues in the form he was yesterday, then all might not be lost for the Spanish striker. What do you think?
