Jimmy Savile has got a supporter in the form of the Yorkshire serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, who has gone onto quote in The Sun that the Jimmy Savile’s victims are “getting carried away”.

Peter Sutcliffe, who has murdered and disfigured 13 women, said he became friends with Jimmy Savile during his Broadmoor visits. On a tape leaked to The Sun, the psychopath said, “It’s a load of rubbish. People are just getting carried away. I can’t fault him from my experiences of what he was like. I don’t care what these people who are coming out of the woodwork are saying.”

Saying that he could personally vouch for the paedophile Jimmy Savile, Peter Sutcliffe said, “He visited a lot. He’d always come and chat with me on visits and I would introduce him to my visitors. Several times he left £500 for charities I was supporting. He wrote cheques out on the spot, a very generous man he was.”

Peter Sutcliffe accused the victims of “jumping onto the bandwagon after 40 to 50 years”. “It only takes a couple of rumours and then it goes like wildfire. I don’t believe he raped anyone. I think he kissed quite a few young women but that’s as far as he’s gone. It’s just going crazy, they love to savage people who are dead, people who can’t hit back — or prisoners who can’t reply.”

The Sun revealed that Sutcliffe killed third victim Irene Richardson yards from Savile’s flat in Roundhay, Leeds, in 1977. Peter Sutclifee and Jimmy Savile’s association throws open a new possible angle for investigation into Jimmy Savile’s sexual abuse cases.
