Piers Morgan has urged an ‘assault rifles ban’ in the US

A petition to deport Piers Morgan, the British host of CNN’s ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ programme, has gained the signatures of over 65000 Americans on the White House website. The reason behind the petition to deport Piers Morgan is his stance on gun control laws, with Piers Morgan demanding stricter gun control steps in the aftermath of the horrific Connecticut elementary school shooting, which slaughtered 26 people, including 20 kids, in Newtown, Connecticut.

The anti-Piers Morgan petition, which was launched on December 21 in Texas, accuses him of being involved in a hostile assault against the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, which assures the American citizens the right to bear weapons.

Five days after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre by 20-year-old Adam Lanza, Piers Morgan interviewed Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners for America. The interview in question was characterised by heated bitterness, with Larry Pratt contending that the Americans should have more guns. Piers Morgan seemed to be infuriated by Larry Pratt’s pro-gun ownership stance.

Piers Morgan reacted to Larry Pratt’s contention by voicing that Pratt had no coherent argument. Morgan alleged that Larry Pratt didn’t give a damn about the gun murder percentage in America. The CNN host asked Pratt sarcastically, “You are an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?”

American citizens are able to launch petitions on the White House website. If those petitions collect at least 25000 signatures within 30 days, the White House is mandated to deliver a response to those petitions. Hitherto, the Barack Obama administration hasn’t issued a rejoinder to the anti-Piers Morgan petition.

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan, ex-Daily Mirror editor, has expressed on Twitter that he doesn’t care about a petition to deport him. His stance that America must debar civilian possession of assault weapons and of high-capacity magazines isn’t anti-constitutional but commonsensical. Morgan asked on Twitter whether any other nation will accommodate him in case he is deported from the US for desiring fewer gun murders. The CNN host tweeted that Americans have been butchered by assault weapons in movie theatres, temples, shopping malls and schools.

Piers Morgan can’t be deported for freely proclaiming his stance…this is America..not a Middle Eastern dictatorship or a dictatorial China..

  2. John says:

But Piers Morgan has the right to express his views…in the US, there is freedom of speech, right…?
