Premier League January transfer window is laced with striker transfers

Premier League transfer news hint at January window being loaded with striker transfers. In Chelsea transfer news, Fernando Torres is still reported to be the target of Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini, though newly appointed manager, Rafa Benitez has expressed his intentions of retaining the Spaniard and work on improving his game.

In Liverpool transfer news, the Reds will fight it out with Stoke for Lazio striker, Mauro Zarate during the January transfer window. The striker has not featured regularly for the Serie A side this season and has relayed his intentions of moving to the Premier League. Liverpool and Stoke will face competition for the striker from a few European clubs.

In Arsenal transfer news, the Gunners might be looking to ship-off forward, Andrei Arshavin during the next window to Zenit St. Petersburg. The 31-year-old player transferred to the Gunners from the Russian side in 2009 for £12 million. Arshavin has not performed well according to the standards set by him previously.

The striker’s contract with Arsenal expires in the summer and it is reported that that the Gunners would be willing to accept a reduced transfer fee of around £3 million. If the transfer becomes a reality, then it would be Arshavin’s third stint at Zenit. The Russian side has reportedly offered Arshavin a two-and-a-half-year contract.

In Manchester United transfer news, Sir Alex might be looking to strengthen the defence line-up of the Red Devils as he has set his eyes on Borussia Dortmund defender, Mats Hummels. The German player has become one of the most-sought defender in present times.
