Professor Stephen Hawking plots creative demise for the fictitious opera singer Gio Compario

Renowned Professor Stephen Hawking is the unlikely face of 2013 car insurance website Go Compare’s advertisement, who plots the demise of irritating opera singer Gio Compario played by Wynne Evans. The new one-minute advert starring Stephen Hawking debuted for the first time on New Year’s Day.

The Go Compare’s latest advert showcases Stephen Hawking address a packed lecture theatre announcing that he had discovered how to generate a big black hole. When asked by a student about what he would do with the knowledge, Stephen Hawking’s wishful thinking is revealed and the scene cuts to opera singer Gio Compario harassing a couple on a street with his singing, before the black hole form behind him and sucks him in. Stephen Hawking is then shown smirking.

About working in the Go Compare advert, Stephen Hawking said, ”I confess I am a fan of the Gocompare.com adverts, but I am also an opera fan, so I was delighted to be given the opportunity to help save the nation and silence Gio. I hope the public find it as funny as I did.”

Stephen Hawking joins a list of celebrities who have starred in the Go Compare advert, which shows people getting away from the annoying opera singer. Ex-tennis player and Question Of Sport host Sue Barker, former footballer Stuart Pearce, survival expert Ray Mears and dancer Louie Spence are included in the list of celebrities who took part in plotting the demise of the fictitious opera singer.
