Arsenal fans might have something to cheer after the draw against Manchester City as Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger is planning to give Andrei Arshavin his first game since his transfer back to the club based in Holloway, London. The Arsenal coach is considering the Russian player for the third-round game against Coventry City today in the Capital One Cup.

The Russian forward is trying to win back the support of Arsenal fans since his transfer back to Arsenal after his temporary stint at Zenit St Petersburg. Wenger defended Arshavin’s professional attributes and insisted that only the quality of his team mates was keeping him out of the side.

The Arsenal coach said, “I have personally a great respect for Andrei Arshavin. Sometimes some wrong ideas circulated about him – that he doesn’t care – but it’s completely the opposite. He’s a 200 per cent professional who works every day very hard in training.”

Talking about the Russian’s chance to gain place in the start-up line, Wenger said, “We will give him some competition on Wednesday night. I feel he’s unhappy he doesn’t play because deeply he loves football and he practises every day with 100 per cent commitment.” Arsenal has been rotating players through its matches testing the bench strength of the team. Oliver Giroud and Theo Walcott who have been in and out are likely to start with young players like, Ignasi Miquel, Nico Yennaris and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Aresanl drew with Manchester city in its previous Premier League encounter with Laurent Koscielny scoring in the 82nd minute, thus rescuing Arsenal in the final minutes of the match. With Andrei Arshavin coming into the team, Arsenal attack is set to gain strength which seems to have lost its fangs since the absence of Robie Van Persie.
