London tube fares will be jacked up by 4.2% in 2013, as per the proclamation of Mayor Boris Johnson, who has uttered that the new fares package is lower than anticipated, as the Mayoralty has attained a £96 million investment from the government.
Boris Johnson has asserted that, before the year concludes, he would divulge news about further investment on the transport network. This investment would enable rapider and more credible journeys for Londoners. This investment is essential for boosting the economic growth of London, as per Boris Johnson.
The cost of tickets on London’s Tubes, Overground, DLR and trams will heighten by 1% above inflation from January 2013. On the Tube, cash fares will be upped by 20p. The everyday Oyster pay, as one goes cap for Tube, DLR and rail voyage, will be stuck at the 2012 levels.
Mayor Boris Johnson has expressed that he is delighted to have obtained the £96 million investment from the government, which will ensure that the transport fares in London are as affordable as possible. As a result of this investment, the significant rail concessions, which the city administration provides to disadvantaged Londoners, will continue.
Concessionary travel for young Londoners, veterans, elderly and handicapped Londoners will exist in 2013 too.
Also, in an unrelated development, Boris Johnson has advocated that his Conservative Party should appoint the political strategist, Lynton Crosby, to manage the party’s campaign for a parliamentary majority in the 2015 UK general election.
Lynton Crosby was the man, who strategised Boris Johnson’s campaign for the London Mayoralty this summer, which was successful. The London Mayor has remarked that Crosby was a terrific political campaign manager, who should be provided considerable autonomy by the Conservative Party to run their parliamentary campaign in 2015. Crosby should be given a hefty salary if necessary by the party to do the job of a political strategist.
